Two riots have occurred at Clinton: one at the Dannemora State Hospital (opened in 1899, now the Annex) and another within the prison (1929). The third chapter of Escape from Dannemora chronicles both riots, as well as the causes, investigation, and aftermath of the 1929 prison riot.
